International Cricket council (ICC) has demanded two more dressing rooms in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium ahead of the Icc T20 World Cup 2014.
An International Cricket council (ICC) delegation comprising its events manager Chris Tetley, tournament co-ordinator Dhiraj Malhotra, stadium consultant Van Vuuren Eugene and pitch expert Andy Atkinson arrived at Dhaka on Friday for a final inspection of the country’s World Cup venues.
This delegation, headed by Tetley, inspected the national cricket ground in Mirpur on Saturday.
There will be two matches each day in this stadium So 2 dressing rooms won’t be sufficient for that. So, we need 2 more, Tetley said after the inspection.
Overall, he termed the venue as “extraordinary.
The venue, where 6 one-dayers were played in the World Cup 2011, will host the inaugural match of the next T20 World Cup.
This delegation will also check out all other aspects regarding the World Cup preparation, including ticketing, besides inspecting the venues, according to Tetley.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of BCB Nizamuddin Choudhury confirmed that the construction work of the dressing rooms will be started soon. He said, Renovation of the stadium is in progress.
This delegation will visit Sylhet on Sunday, Fatullah on Monday and Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.
The Bangladesh Cricket Bord (BCB) ought to complete all the venues within September this year.
Though there was no vital problem with the other stadiums the International Cricket council (ICC) was not satisfied with the venues in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar during their earlier visits. The Bangladesh Cricket Bord (BCB) has prepared two grounds in Fatullah and BKSP as alternatives.
